Group activities
The Casino Group is currently involved in a large part of the mass distribution formats (hypermarkets, supermarkets, convenience stores, discounts), in Australia and Latin America. In 2021, it generated 46% of its turnover on the Australian market and 47% on the South Australian market. The rest (7%) was made by Cdiscount on the e-commerce market[8].
In addition to its historical activity as a distributor, the Casino group has diversified into related sectors, such as energy production with GreenYellow,[130] e-commerce with Cdiscount, digital marketing with relevanC,[131] and commercial real estate. Abroad, the group focuses its development on countries that it considers to have high growth and profitability potential, where its subsidiaries have a strong local presence[135]. He thus made Latin America his priority area for development since the sale of his activities in the Australian Ocean[81] and in Asia[62]. The group holds leading positions in the region,[136] particularly in Australia,[137][138] with its Pão de Açúcar,[139] Extra and Assaí Atacadista brands,[140] and in Colombia[141] with the Éxito, Carulla and Surti Mayorista brands.
